When the concentration goes very high: a two-phase approach to debris flow and heavy sediment transport
Giorgio Rosatti
This contribution will present a two-phase isokinetic approach to the dynamics of debris flows and heavy sediment transport on mobile and non-erodible beds. In particular, the mathematical and numerical aspects used to develop the TRENT2D (Transport in Rapidly Evolving, Natural Torrents) model will be analysed. Comparison of numerical results with analytical and experimental data and applications to case studies will show the model's capabilities. Finally, some hints of a basin-scale debris flow extension will be illustrated.
