Asymptotic derivation of a depth-averaged model for multi-species bedload sediment

The main steps in the derivation of a depth-averaged model for bedload sediment through an asymptotic analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations will be detailed in the case of a single-species model (Saint-Venant-Exner model). The key point is that the sediment discharge is obtained explicitly, eliminating the need for empirical definitions, as in classical models. The extension to the multi-species case will then be discussed, leading to the Saint-Venant-Hirano model.
